The Vietnam Ministry of Information and Communication (MIC) has officially issued new standards which will take effect from July 01, 2021. From the effective date, the local importer will have to use local test report, type approval certificate under the new standards for the importation process.
Brazil
The Agência Nacional De Telecomunicações (ANATEL) approved the technical requirements for Wi-Fi 6E devices under Act nº 1306 on February 26, 2021, which updates Act 14448 (Technical Requirements For Assessing Conformity Assessment of Restricted Radiation Equipment) to include the Wi-Fi 6E technical requirements in the frequency range of 5,925 -7,125 MHz. The act comes into force on the date of the publication.
Chile
La Superintendencia de Electricidad y Combustibles (SEC) has released new Act PE N° 1/05/2:2021, in which electric ovens is included in the mandatory list of energy efficiency items. Starting from the enforcement date November 1, 2021, all electric ovens should comply with standard IEC 60350:2011.
Saudi Arabia
Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization (SASO) has released a list of new products that require SASO IECEE Recognition Certificate from July 1, 2021 as follows.
- Electric kettles
- Coffee machine
- Electric fryer
- Electric pump (5 HP and less)
- Power cable
- Electric game console and accessories
Saudi Arabia
The Communications and Information Technology Commission (CITC) has announced that the full 6 GHz frequency band will be available for Wi-Fi use during the webinar “Fostering New Generation of WiFi Technologies in Saudi Arabia”, and Wi-Fi 6E also paves the way for Wi-Fi 7.
The announcement follows CITC’s recent publication of its new spectrum outlook for commercial and innovative use, which aims to improve the innovative use spectrum and enable new generations of smart innovative wireless technologies by 2025.
South Africa
National Regulator for Compulsory Specifications (NRCS) has released announcement regarding to the recognition of SANS/IEC 62368-1 as an equivalent standard to SANS/IEC 60065 and SANS/IEC 60950. Starting from April 1,2021, IEC 62368-1:2018 test reports without a declaration of equivalence are accepted. Meanwhile, applicants can still provide the test reports of IEC 60950-1 & IEC 60065 and the existing LOA’s are still valid until they expire.
United Arab Emirates
The Telecommunications and Digital Government Regulatory Authority (TDRA) has announced its new brand identity in a virtual press conference, which is in line with Decree No. (23) issued on September 27, 2020 to amend some provisions of the Decree Law No. (3) of 2003 regarding organization of telecommunications sector. The amendment includes addition of the "digital government" to the responsibilities and name of the Authority.
The new identity reflects the Authority will accelerate the pace of digital transformation and shape a future based on advanced technology supported by artificial intelligence, smart cities, and a knowledge-based society and economy over the next fifty years.

The new standards and equivalences are as follows.
- RF standard for WiFi 2.4GHz: QCVN 54:2020/BTTTT- equivalent to ETSI EN 300 328 v2.2.2
- Standard for DVB-T2 function: QCVN 63:2020/BTTTT
- RF standard for SRD 1-40GHz: QCVN 74:2020/BTTTT - equivalent to ETSI EN 300 440 V2.2.1
- Safety standard for lithium battery: QCVN 101:2020/BTTTT - equivalent to IEC 62133:2017
- RF standard for 2G, 3G, 4G functions: QCVN 117:2020/BTTTT
- RF standard for LPWAN 920-923 MHz: QCVN 122:2020/BTTTT- equivalent to ETSI EN 300 220-1 V3.1.1
There are some new standards which are still in draft and will take effect in near future. Please find these new standards and expected effective date of each standard as follows:
- National technical regulation on radio access equipment (Wi-Fi) in the 5 GHz band: QCVN 65:2021/BTTTT, will take effect on July 01, 2022
- National technical regulation on radar equipment operating in the band 76 GHz to 77 GHz for ground transport: QCVN 124:2021/BTTTT, the effective date is not fixed yet.
- National technical regulation on short range radio equipment in the frequency band 40 GHz to 246 GHz: QCVN 123:2021/BTTTT, the effective date is not fixed yet.
- National technical regulation on 5G mobile communication base station equipment - Radio access section: QCVN 128:2021/BTTTT, will take effect on July 15, 2021
- National technical regulation on the quality of Internet access services on 5G terrestrial mobile networks: QCVN 126:2021/BTTTT, will take effect on August 15, 2021
- National technical regulation on 5G mobile communication terminal equipment - Radio access section: QCVN 127:2021/BTTTT, will take effect on August 15, 2021
