No. 31/ 2009 The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) has issued the proposed Key Administrative Catalog for the Pollution Control of Electronic Information Products (Batch 1). This draft, was issued on the 9th October 2009, is for consultation which ends on the 9th November 2009.
Scope:The scope is limited to phones (cell, PSTN, and wireless) and all types of printers. All types of phones are covered including mobiles, landline telephones and networked handsets.
Substances: lead, cadmium, mercury, hexavalent chromium, PBB and PBDE
Concentration limits: The maximum concentrations are specified by Chinese standard SJ/T 11363-2006. There are some exemptions allowed. (some of the EU RoHS exemptions that would be permitted)
Entry into force: The law goes into effect 10 months after this catalog is promulgated.
