REACH: ECHA Publishes Consultation on Seven New Potential SVHCs
No. 04/2011 The European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) has published proposals to identify seven chemicals as Substances of Very High Concern (SVHC) and possible candidates for authorization on February 21, 2011. The proposals were put forward by ECHA and along with three EU Member States - Belgium, France, and Denmark. These substances have been proposed due to their potentially serious effects on human health or the environment. Also, an amendment to one substance, Cobalt Dichloride, already on the candidate list is proposed.
During this public consultation period, ECHA invites interested parties to provide comments on these proposals by April 7, 2011. After the consultation, a decision will be made by the Member State Committee as to whether the substance will be added to the REACH Candidate List, which currently has 46 substances on it.
