Latest Updates on REACH Annex XVII
No. 08/2011 Under Regulation (EU) 207/2011 of 2 March 2011, the inclusion of substances and PFOS in POPs resulted in their official deletion from entries 44 and 53 of ANNEX XVII of REACH.
Substances under ANNEX I of POPs are prohibited unless under specific exemptions on intermediate use or other specifications. The ANNEX I of POPs under Regulation (EU) 757/2010 contains aldrin, bromodiphenyl ether (tetra-, penta-, hexa- and hepta-derivatives), chlordane, chlordecone, DDT (1,1,1-trichloro-2,2-bis(4-chlorophenyl)ethane), dieldrin, endrin, hexabromobiphenyl, hexachlorobenzene, hexachlorocyclohexanes (including lindane), heptachlor, mirex, pentachlorobenzene, perfluorooctane sulfonic acid and its derivatives (PFOS), polychlorinated biphenyls (PCB) and toxaphene. Regulation (EU) 757/2010 has been in force since August 2010.
Also, the Commission Regulation (EU) No 366/2011 was published in the Official Journal of the European Journal on April 14, 2011, amending Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006 of the European Parliament and of the Council on the Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals (REACH) Annex XVII to include a restriction on acrylamide (CAS No. 76-06-1).
Acrylamide or any other sources of free acrylamide shall not be placed on market or used as a substance or constituent of mixtures in a concentration, equal to or greater than 0.1 % by weight for grouting applications after 5 November 2012.
