In the new Acts, ANATEL defines new standards and tests that must be applied to products that operate 4G-NBlot and 5G. Going forward, laboratories and Designated Certification Bodies (DCBs) must request tests according to these new standards depending on the product type. The Acts also include an important reservation that must be applied to all products that use 4G bands for 5G operations, in that they must be retested under the 5G functional tests. Certificates for these retested products must be updated within a maximum of 6 months.

ANATEL Publishes Acts on Cellular Mobile Devices

ANATEL has published the following Acts on November 29, 2021:

  • Act 10002 – updating Act 3151 on Technical Requirements for Terminal Access Stations
  • Act 10003 – updating Act 3152 on Technical Requirements on Cellular Mobile Telephones

In these Acts, ANATEL defines new standards and tests that must be applied to products that operate 4G-NBlot and 5G. Going forward, laboratories and Designated Certification Bodies (DCBs) must request tests according to these new standards depending on the product type. NTRA launches campaigns on wide scale to seize unlawful telecom equipment harming quality

National Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (NTRA) of Egypt has launched field campaigns, across different Governorates, to make sure all measures taken and instructions given are adhered to. This step also aimed to monitor any violations to the policies set forth by NTRA with respect to telecom devices, especially repeaters, not conforming to specifications and consequently harming the quality of telecom services.

After legalization of procedures, missions were carried out by Telecom Police, in coordination with Public Security Sector and in presence of law inspectors and officers of NTRA in Cairo, Giza, Alexandria and Daqahliya. In fact, necessary legal actions were taken against individuals possessing unlawful devices. Such campaigns resulted in seizing 576 non-conforming repeaters, 1159 signal-boosters and 26 illegal internet networks across the four Governorates.

SDPPI application submitted should be carried out through the OSS system

SDDPI has published the announcement No. 877/DJSDPPI.5/SP.04.09/12/2021 on December 10, 2021. From now on, application submitted should be carried out through the OSS system.

Before starting new application, the local certificate holder should create an "Application ID/Ticket ID" in the OSS system. Guideline is included in the public announcement.

Saudi Arabia SASO Release to Postpone the Implementation of RoHS Regulation

Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization (SASO) has published a new circular recently to postpone the implementation of the Technical Regulation for Restriction of hazardous Substances (RoHS) in Electrical and Electronic Equipment for 6 months and then will be implemented in phases according to the table as follows.
