On March 9, 2021, ANATEL has released the Act nº 1477 which will become effective on April 1, 2021. This new Act establishes the technical requirements for the use of the spectrum by devices operating in the frequency range from 3,300 MHz to 3,700 MHz. The new publication makes it possible to test and approve the 5G NR band n78 in Brazil.

On March 11, 2021, ANATEL has released the new Act nº 1630 for Telecommunications Products, the new act has replaces the previous Act nº 955 (February 8, 2018). The main changes are as follows:

  • To approve the updating of the Test Procedures for the Evaluation of the Specific Absorption Rate (SAR) of Telecommunications Products
  • Alignment of the Act's test procedures with the IEC / IEEE 62209-1528 standard, for the purpose of certification and homologation of portable terminal stations, in the radio frequency range from 4 MHz to 6 GHz
  • Inclusion of average SAR assessment procedures by average time interval (Time-Averaging SAR - TAS)
  • Approve the considerations in the evaluation of products with proximity sensors, as provided in item 7.7 of the IEC / IEEE 62209-1528 standard, in 180 days after the publication of the Act
  • To determine test procedures for Dynamic Power Control and Exposure Time-Averaging (DPC-ETA) in the verification of TAS protocol, on a provisional basis, until the final version of the technical standard of the working group JGW-13 of Technical Committee 106 of the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) is published

On March 12, 2021, the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) has announced that the BIS CRO Phase V mandatory products, which was going to become effective on April 1, 2021 will be extended to October 1, 2021. The mentioned mandatory products are as follows:

Israel   Israel

The Ministry of Communications (MoC) of Israel has released a new list of products that are exempt from mandatory MoC type approval as follows:

  • BT devices operate in the 2,400 MHz-2483.5 MHz according to IEEE 802.15.1 with integral antenna up to 100mW EIRP, or ANT/ANT+ devices operate in the 2,400 MHz-2483.5 MHz with integral antenna up to 100mW EIRP
  • Devices intended only for the reception of satellite positioning transmissions using a global positioning system such as GALILEO, GLONASS, GPS or BEIDOU
  • Parabolic antennas with a diameter not exceeding 244 cm, including the ancillary equipment, which is intended for the reception of satellite broadcasts
  • Devices operating in the field of infrared frequencies between 1,000 GHz-3,000 GHz whose transmission power does not exceed 200 mW
  • Computer peripherals (e.g. Mouse and Keyboard)
  • Computer monitors
  • Video Streamers which comply with the provisions of the European Radio Equipment Directive 2014/53/EU and bear the CE marking
  • E-book readers (without cellular function)
  • Tablets (without cellular function)
  • Laptops or notebook computers (without cellular function)
  • Desktop computers (without cellular function)
  • Converters for receiving television broadcasts to the public (Television receiver set-top box), which meet the provisions of the European Radio Equipment Directive 2014/53/EU, and bear the CE marking
  • Television set
  • Radio receivers for the reception of public broadcasts using FM/DAB/AM technologies
  • Spare parts for mobile phones
  • Wristwatches (without cellular function)
  • Vacuum cleaners

Kuwait   Kuwait

On January 31, 2021, The Communication and Information Technology Regulatory Authority (CITRA) of Kuwait has released the “Technical standards for ICT equipment Connected to Public Telecommunication Network V1.1”. The document reconfirms the currently accepted international standards.

For now, CITRA is following the process previously identified by the Ministry of Communications. However, establishing type approval lab is in process; once done, new type approval process will be approved and published.

The National Radio Research Agency (RRA) has released the update of EMC regulation, KS standards are introduced to substitute the original KN standards in testing. The effective date of this announcement will start from May 8, 2021. The standards will be substituted as follows:

Malaysia  Malaysia

According to announcement SQASI/CMCS/1/21/0003, SIRIM has informed that the implementation of the interim Type Approval for 5G Customer Premise Equipment (CPE) is extended, effective from December 20, 2020 until further notice. As such, all new applications and renewal of Certificate of Conformity (CoC) are allowed with a maximum validity of one year.

 

Malaysia Malaysia

Malaysia Suruhanjaya Tenaga (ST) has announced the enforcement of Minimum energy Performance standards (MEPS) for Freezer on March 1, 2021. This new requirement has a one-year grace period. From March 1, 2022, all freezer should comply with this requirement.

 

Thailand flag  Thailand

On March 11, 2021, NBTC has released technical standard NBTC TS 1038-2564 Unmanned Arial Vehicle for general use, the standard has already been effective on March 12, 2021.

The technical standard allows additional frequency of 24.05 GHz-24.25 GHz radar to be used in Unmanned Arial Vehicle under class A type approval. The output power allowed should not over 100 mw E.I.R.P. Previously, the announced frequencies were 433.05 MHz-434.79 MHz, 2400 MHz-2500 MHz, and 5725 MHz-5850 MHz. These frequencies remain unchanged and requires the approval under SDoC.

On March 2, 2021, TISI has released the update standard TIS 1195-2561 for Audio, Video and Similar Electronic Apparatus. The update standard will replace TIS 1195-2536 and the effective date is in 180 days upon the announcement date, which is August 29, 2021.
