MEXICO-Pre-Import Verification of Labels on Commercial Goods

With effect from 01 October 2020 most commercial products imported into Mexico are required to conform to the revised labelling requirements as regulated by the Dirección General de Normas (DGN) of the Ministry of Economy

We are pleased to inform you that SGS Mexico has been accredited as a Commercial Inspection (Verification) Unit (UVA) (UVNOM 037) for Standard (NMX) 17020 for 11 Label Standards from all countries of supply

SGS offices abroad can support your exporter to verify and prepare the commercial information on the labels of your products prior to their arrival at the Mexican border. These products will be issued a certificate (Constancia) by SGS Mexico to show compliance with the appropriate Mexican standard, ensuring that clearance through Mexican Customs will be smooth and without additional storage or labelling expenses

SGS Mexico is authorised to issue certificates for the following types of goods:

Textiles and Clothing

Toys

Natural and artificial leather goods and footwear

Electronics, electrical goods and household appliances

Products for which no specific label standard applies

Food and non-alcoholic beverages

Automotive lubricating oils

Pre-packaged perfume and beauty products

Alcoholic beverages

Cocoa products and derivatives

Cleaning products for household use

OBJECTIVE

Mexico’s PVoC ensures that labels meet mandatory safety, quality and security requirements, facilitates international trade, avoids delays to Customs clearance and reduces potential losses from the import of non- compliant products
