CITC updated the WLAN regulation with new technical conditions. According to the regulations, WLAN equipment shall be type approved by CITC prior to importation to the Kingdom and must adhere to CITC’s published technical specifications. In addition, CITC is permitting the use of specific WLAN Frequency Bands under the light licensing regime.

In the new Acts, ANATEL defines new standards and tests that must be applied to products that operate 4G-NBlot and 5G. Going forward, laboratories and Designated Certification Bodies (DCBs) must request tests according to these new standards depending on the product type. The Acts also include an important reservation that must be applied to all products that use 4G bands for 5G operations, in that they must be retested under the 5G functional tests. Certificates for these retested products must be updated within a maximum of 6 months.

State Radio Regulatory Commission of the People's Republic of China (SRRC) issued Notice No. [2021] No. 129 on October 13, 2021, strengthening the technical requirement of 2400-2483.5MHz, 5150-5350MHz and 5725-5850MHz frequency bands.

The Telecommunications Digital Regulatory Authority (TDRA) has announced that shutdown of 2G network (GSM) in the UAE will take place at the end of 2022, with directing resources allocated to 5G to support new generations of mobile networks. Meanwhile, UAE service providers will provide all means of support to Groups that may be affected by the 2G shutdown.

SDPPI has extended the accreditation of overseas laboratories. At present, the official has not yet issued an official announcement. However, the accreditation period of overseas laboratories on the official website is from January 1, 2021 to December 31, 2021.

CITC has updated the technical specifications of communications and information technology devices as the technical basis for their approval to accommodate the latest technological developments, such as AML and CBS. The updated technical specifications include GEN001, GEN002, GEN003 and specifications for other specific products.
