Malaysia ST released New Guidelines on MEPS for Electric Ovens

Malaysia Suruhanjaya Tenaga (ST) released new MEPS guidelines on November 1, 2023, to provide technical requirements for determining the Minimum Energy Performance Standards (MEPS) for an electric oven. The guidelines will come into force on November 1, 2024. The main points are as follows:

  • Apply to portable and built-in electric ovens.
  • The test standard is in accordance with IEC 60350-1: 2016.
  • Electric ovens shall meet at least a 2 Star rating to fulfill the MEPS requirement before the issuance of the ST COA.

 

Updates on Aeronautical and Maritime Radiocommunications Equipment

In line with the Technical Codes that MCMC released on October 31, 2023, SIRIM has provided the further information for Aeronautical and Maritime Radiocommunications Equipment. Applicable equipment submitted for certification shall comply with the requirements stipulated in the technical codes listed below, which start commencing from May 1, 2024.

For existing applications, applicants are allowed to renew their certificates for a maximum of one year within the 6-month grace period. However, renewal of the existing certificates will no longer be permitted after May 1, 2024.

Tanzania Tanzania

TCRA released a new Label Requirement

In November 2023, the Tanzania Communications Authority (TCRA) released Guidelines for Type Approval of Electronic Communications Equipment. The main points are as follows:

  • A sample is required for set-top boxes and terminal ECEs connecting to cellular networks. For other types of equipment, a sample may be required upon request.
  • A host device should be type-approved even if the module is already type-approved. The module shall be subject to type approval if it is intended to be imported separately.
  • A physical or e-label is required. The label shall have an Arial font style with a size of at least 5mm in either black or white color. If the product is too small, the label can be placed on both the product package and the user documentation accompanying the ECE.

MoIAT Planed that Product Photos need to be Uploaded to the MoIAT portal

The Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology (MoIAT) recently planed that product photos for each model applied for certification will be required to be uploaded to its portal. Product photos include product photos, a rating label, and packaging. This measure is being implemented to enhance the presentation of compliant products on the MOIAT website and to streamline market supervision.
