DOT Extension of mandatory security testing of WiFi CPE and IP Router under MTCTE from 01.04.2024 to 01.07.2024

The Department of Telecommunications (DOT) in India released a notice on March 28, 2024, this notice postpones the enforce date for the mandatory enforcement where WiFi CPE and IP routers must obtain NCCS certification has been postponed to July 1, 2024.

Due to the increase in data breaches and cyber threats, the National Centre for Communication Security (NCCS) under the Department of Telecommunication (DOT) has formulated the Indian Telecom Security Assurance Requirements (ITSAR). Starting from July 1, 2024, product categories including WiFi CPE and IP routers will need to comply with ITSAR regulations and undergo security testing to ensure the security of the telecommunications network.
