SGS Taiwan launches two sets of Wi-Fi 7 test equipment to assist manufacturers accelerating product launch

SGS Taiwan Wireless Laboratory, recently announced the launch of two sets of Wi-Fi 7 test equipment to assist manufacturers in accelerating the development and launch of Wi-Fi 7 products.

Wi-Fi 7 is a new generation of wireless network standards with higher throughput, lower latency and more reliable connections. It is expected that in the future Wi-Fi 7 will have a significant impact on the development of AI and IoT applications, like VR/AR/XR, cloud games, smart homes, etc.

The key features of Wi-Fi 7:

  • Higher throughput: Wi-Fi 7 uses 320MHz bandwidth to provide a wider transmission space, and 4K-QAM quadrature amplitude modulation to enable more densely data transmission.
  • Lower latency: Wi-Fi 7 uses MLO (Multi-Link Operation) technology and uses multi-connection mode technology to allow devices to operate in multi-link channels to achieve simultaneous transmission and reception, moreover, it can be based on current traffic conditions to do necessarily load balancing or data aggregation.
  • More reliable connections: Wi-Fi 7 uses MRUs (Multiple RUs) and Puncturing technology, which allowed to be assigned to multiple RUs per node, compared with Wi-Fi 6. And paired with “Preamble Puncturing” function, the device is able to fully utilize the remaining portion of the idle or even interrupted channel.

    • Wi-Fi Enhanced Open™ (if product supports 6GHz band and if 2.4/5 GHz bands support OPEN security)
    • Protected Management Frames
    • Security Vulnerability Detection
  • Optimization testing: Test whether the product able to take full advantage of the new features of Wi-Fi 7.
    • Wi-Fi Agile Multiband™
    • WMM®
