ISED

Publishes RSS-133 Issue 7 – Personal Communications Service Equipment Operating in the Bands 1,850-1,915 MHz and 1,930-1,995 MHz

On July 24, the ISED published RSS-133 Issue 7 – Personal Communications Service Equipment Operating in the Bands 1,850-1,915 MHz and 1,930-1,995 MHz, which came into force as of the date of its publication. The main change in Issue 7 is to introduce new requirements for base and fixed stations equipped with an active antenna system (AAS), and the impact on subscriber equipment is negligible. A transition period of 6 months from the publication date is provided, during which certifications under either Issue 6, amendment 1, or Issue 7 are accepted. After January 27, 2025, only certifications under Issue 7 will be accepted, and equipment manufactured, imported, distributed, leased, offered for sale, or sold in Canada shall comply with this present issue. The detailed changes are as follows:

  • Added maximum transmitter power requirements for fixed station, base station, and subscriber equipment (requirement unchanged from RSS-133 Issue 6) in Table 2.
  • Introduced total radiated power requirements for AAS equipment in Table 2 and for unwanted emissions in Sec. 5.6.
  • Removed requirements for mobile equipment identifier (MEID) and IMEI as they are no longer required.
