 Bolivia ATT released Administrative Resolution ATT-DJ-RAR-TL LP 324/2020 on October 14, 2020 to regulate and allocate the 915MHz -928MHz band for IoT applications for free secondary use, including LPWAN, RFID and SRD, which have established following technical parameters per ITU recommendations:

According to Brazilian Federal Law 9472/97, telecommunications products to be sold and used in Brazil must have a Certificate of Conformity issued by a Designated Certification Body (OCD), indicating that they comply with Brazilian regulatory requirements. This certificate must also be approved by ANATEL, the National Telecommunications Agency.

 Egypt Egypt

The National Telecom Regulatory Authority (NTRA) has recently adjusted the maximum permitted output power for RFID devices operating in the 865MHz–868MHz frequency range from 100mW EIRP to 2W EIRP. NTRA has confirmed that there is no impact to existing approval for device which is already on the Egyptian market.

 

 Hong Kong Hong Kong

Hong Kong’s Office of the Communications Authority released a new table of frequency allocations in January 2021. This document lists out all the allow frequency in Hong Kong.

 

 India India

Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) has released the Uniform Test report formats (UTRF) on their official website for all CRO phase V product categories (except for Dimmers for LED products). Now, BIS recognized labs can issue test reports as per applicable standards for different notified product categories.

From April 1, 2021 onwards, it will be mandatory for all the mentioned products to be registered with BIS before getting Imported/Manufactured in India.

SDPPI extension of paperwork acceptance for both HKT and non-HKT products

SDPPI has published an official announcement concerning about the extension of paperwork acceptance for both HKT (HKT stands for Cellular Phones, Handheld Computers and Tablet Computers) and non-HKT products on January 27, 2021, this Directorate General Decree(NOMOR 11 TAHUN 2021) was enforced on January 22, 2021.

Test reports issued by SDPPI recognized overseas laboratories are accepted to fulfill the requirements of obtaining SDPPI certification. This Recognition is valid for 6 months only.

SGS is SDPPI recognized overseas laboratory for HKT products and non-HKT products.

 

Malaysia Malaysia

Pursuant to the 3G Network Sunset plan announced last year, SIRIM released an update on the requirement for VoLTE Compliance and special approval submission for 4G-capable devices on January 14, 2021. From November 6, 2020, type approval application for 4G-capable device which supports VoLTE is required to follow the rules as follows:

  • Shall be submitted with the declaration of VoLTE support.
  • If approved, shall be approved with interim approval until June 30, 2021.
  • Shall submit VoLTE test report by June 30, 2021 to continue the validity of CoC.

VoLTE test report requirements are as follows:

  • The 4G capable devices shall be tested according to IR.92 or TS 34.229-1 or equivalent standards by accredited laboratory.
  • The VoLTE test report for interim approvals shall be submitted to SIRIM between February 15, 2021 and June 30, 2021.
  • After June 30, 2021, interim approval without VoLTE test report submission shall not be granted full approval, and all new applications shall be submitted with VoLTE test report and VoLTE declaration is no longer required.

 Sierra Leone Sierra Leone

The National Telecommunications Commission of Sierra Leone (NATCOM) released new Type Approval Regulations on November 6, 2020. The main changes are as follows:

  • Radio-communication equipment operating in GSM bands are prohibited, except mobile phones or such other equipment approved by NATCOM.
  • Copies of ISO/IEC 17035 certificates of the accredited laboratory shall be submitted when applying Type Approval.
  • There is a new simplified Type Approval process-“Type Acceptance process”:

Type Acceptance Process can be followed when a device has already approved by a recognized National Regulatory Body or Conformity Assessment Body, like FCC, ETSI, IC, etc.

  • Sample might now be requested by the authority on a case-by-case basis.
  • There are new label requirements for all Type Approved devices, and the label must show the items below now:
    1. The logo of the commission
    2. The type of equipment
    3. The alphanumeric identifications

 

 Syria  Syria

Since December 20, 2020, the Syrian Telecommunications & Post Regulatory Authority has no longer accepted test reports depending on IEC 60950-1/IEC 60065. Instead, EN62368-1 or IEC 62368-1 is requested for Type Approval.

Previously approved devices are not affected by this notice.

 

Thailand flag Thailand

Follow up from previous implementation that starting from January 21, 2021, in addition to TIS mark, QR code is required to display on products, TISI has proposed to government cabinet to extend the effective date for another 180 days. On January 5, 2021, Government cabinet made decision to formally approve this extension of effective date to July 20, 2021.

 

 United Arab Emirates United Arab Emirates

The Telecommunications and Regulatory Authority (TRA) released a new version for “Ultra Wide Band and Short Range Devices regulation on December 21, 2020, and the regulation is in force.

The TRA revised the regulation to current version 4.0, defining the requirements for compliance, which UWB and SRD products need to fulfill. In the new regulation, it shows the allowed frequencies together with information about usage of product, transmission power, duty cycle, channel spacing and the standard reference.
