Argentina
Argentina ENACOM Releases Resolución 1268/2024 for VHF/UHF Devices
ENACOM released the Resolución 1268/2024 on December 20, 2024, which approves the technical standard ENACOM-Q2-60.21 V24.1 for UHF/VHF transmitter, receiver, and transceiver equipment for fixed and land mobile services. Devices that were previously registered under CNT-Q2-60.10 and CNT-Q2-60.11 standards, including those with digital modulations registered under Resolution SC No. 784/87, may keep the same registration numbers without undergoing further testing. This Resolution will come into force on March 24, 2025.
Brazil
Brazil ANATEL Approves Exceptional Authorization of RF Use in Delimited Geographic Areas
ANATEL released Ato No. 17985/2024 on January 7, 2025 to establish technical and operational requirements for authorization of exceptional use of radio frequencies without a prior designation for specific services or under unconventional conditions in a defined geographic area. This new act enables the use of the radio frequency spectrum under special circumstances.
Brazil ANATEL Releases Resolution 722
ANATEL issued Resolution 772 on January 22, 2025, which approves the assignment, designation, and distribution of frequency bands in Brazil. It not only replaces the table of radio frequency bands that can be used by restricted radiation equipment with alternative emission limits as defined in Annex 1 of Resolution 680, Regulations on Radio Communication Equipment with Restricted Radiation but also abolishes the allocation and use of RF bands specified in several prior resolutions. This affects certain bands which are little-used but not bands allocated for WWAN, WLAN, Bluetooth, Zigbee, LoRa, and many others. The resolution came into effect on February 3.

Costa Rica SUTEL Releases Resolución RCS-216-2024 for 5G Devices and VoLTE
SUTE released Resolution RCS-216-2024 on November 22, 2024, which updated the approval procedure for mobile telecommunications terminals. The updated resolution only adds testing protocols for 5G devices and VoLTE and made no changes to the testing protocols of 2G, 3G, or 4G.

India BIS Announces Extension of Implementation Date of Revised Standard IS 302 (Part 1): 2024 /IEC 60335-1:2020
BIS decided to extend the final date of implementation of IS 302 (Part 1):2024/IEC 60335-1:2020 for Adapters for Household and Similar Electrical Appliances for one more year until February 23, 2026, which, according to the guidelines for implementation of revised IS 302 (Part 1): 2024/IEC 60335-1:2020 dated November 27, 2024, was to end on February 23, 2025. Other terms and conditions of the guidelines remain the same.

Indonesia KOMDIGI Enforcement of Regulation No. 2 of 2025 on Radio Frequency Spectrum Use
KOMDIGI published Regulation No. 2 of 2025 Concerning the Use of RF Spectrum Based on Class Permits. This regulation came into force on February 7, 2025, replacing Regulation No. 2 of 2023. The main changes are as follows:
- RF bands added:
- Radio Local Area Network (RLAN) telecommunication equipment: 5,925-6,425 MHz.
- Short Range Device (SRD) telecommunication equipment: 315-405 kHz, 1,700-1,800 kHz, 5,925-6,425 MHz. - Technical operational provisions for RLAN and SRD telecommunication equipment which operate in the frequency bands 315-405 kHz, 1,700-1,800 kHz, and 5,925-6,425 MHz.

Indonesia KOMDIG Issues Accredited Overseas Laboratories List 2025-2026
KOMDIGI released Regulation Number 13 of 2024, updating the list of accredited overseas laboratories. This regulation is effective from January 1, 2025, to December 31, 2026. The main points are as follows:
- Test reports must be issued by an accredited lab, and the testing location mentioned in the test report must be the same as one of the lab locations listed in the regulation.
- Optical laser safety and SAR (Specific Absorption Rate) are not included in the accreditation scope and must be tested in domestic labs.
- Test reports issued after April 1, 2021, must have a digital signature.

ST released the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Act (Act 861) and Guidelines on Energy-Using Products on December 30, 2024, which became effective on January 1, 2025. These guidelines shall apply to the following energy-using products (EUP):

Malaysia ST Releases Temporary Measures for COE Applications on EUPs
ST released temporary measures for COE applications on EUPs which became effective from February 24, 2025.
The main points are as follows:
- New EUPs: manufacturers and importers shall obtain a certificate of efficiency (COE) to legally distribute in Malaysia.
- EUPs with a valid COA: applicants may obtain a COE by applying for a certificate of approval (COA) through the ePermit system.
Malaysia SIRIM Announces IPV6 Interim Type Approvals Will not be Extended
SIRIM announced that implementation of the interim type approval for IPv6 cellular equipment without Wi-Fi or IPv6 equipment over other media (e.g., fiber optics, etc., except ethernet LAN), which ends on July 10, 2025, will not be extended. To receive full approval after July 10, 2025, the applicants shall submit a complete IPv6 test report. This applies to both new applications and renewals for the certificate of conformity (CoC).
Mexico
Mexico IFETEL Modifies Annual Program for Use and Utilization of Frequency Band 2025
IFETEL modified the Annual Program for Use and Utilization of Frequency Band 2025 on February 6, 2025. This program, previously released on September 25, 2024, now contains some modifications.
Mexico IFETEL Releases Disposición Técnica IFT-016-2024
IFETEL released Disposición Técnica IFT-016-2024 on February 7, 2025, which outlines specifications, limits and test methods for low-power radiocommunications devices (LPDs) that operate in the 30 MHz-3 GHz frequency band. Exceptions include
- Frequency bands that are identified for emergency, safety, search, or rescue communications.
- Protected spectrum in the National Frequency Allocation Table (NFAT).
- Applications that are inconsistent with band use according to the NFAT.
The scope does not include frequency hopping and digital modulation radio communications devices under IFT-008 (NOM-208) that operate in the 902-928 MHz, 2,400-2,483.5 MHz, and 5,725-5,850 MHz frequency bands. The provisions will come into force on November 4, 2025.
Mexico IFETEL Releases Disposición Técnica IFT-017-2023
IFETEL released Disposición Técnica IFT-017-2023 on February 10, 2025, the new technical standard for devices using WLAN and/or radiocommunication equipment using digital modulation techniques that operate in unlicensed frequency bands as follows:
- 5,150-5,250 MHz
- 5,250-5,350 MHz
- 5,470-5,600 MHz
- 5,650-5,725 MHz
- 5,725-5,850 MHz
- 5,925-6,425 MHz
These provisions will come into effect on November 7, 2025.
Morocco
Morocco ANRT Releases Updated Type Approval Regulations
ANRT published Official Gazette No. 7371 on January 20, 2025, announcing an update to Radio Equipment Decision No. 16/24. The main changes are as follows:
- All approved or authorized equipment must display the new symbol before being imported and sold.
- New Symbol: ANRT logo + approval numberor
- The marking must be visible, legible, and non-removable, and shall be directly applied to the equipment. If placing directly on the equipment is difficult, it can be affixed on accompanying manuals, packaging, or displayed via an electronic label. - For approved or authorized equipment with an output power of greater than 20 mW and used within 20 cm of the human body, the specific absorption rate (SAR) information must be clearly indicated.
- The SAR information must be provided clearly and legibly on the equipment itself, in the accompanying manual, on the packaging, or displayed via an electronic label.
- This requirement will take effect starting May 1, 2025.
- Equipment currently subject to the SAR display requirement include :
♦ Mobile phones/smartphones
♦ Tablets equipped with a SIM card and/or eSIM and/or Wi-Fi
♦ Smartwatches with a SIM card and/or eSIM
♦ Cellular modems/routers
♦ Walkie-talkies
♦ Laptops with a SIM card and/or eSIM and/or Wi-Fi
♦ DECT or cordless phones.

Singapore Enterprise Releases a New Edition of CPS Information Booklet
Singapore Enterprise released a new edition of the Consumer Protection (Safety Requirements) Registration Scheme (CPS) Information Booklet on February 1, 2025. Added are new requirements to test standards for medium-risk controlled goods with effect from June 1, 2024/2025 (chapter 4.1).
Thailand
Thailand NBTC Releases New Application Form Requirements
NBTC released a new application form format on February 3, 2025. From the date of the announcement, applicants for Class A and Class B certification must provide one of the following documents proving responsibility for their product:
- Proof of trademark or brand ownership
- Document proving that the applicant is an authorized distributor/representative of the overseas manufacturer
