SDPPI has extended the accreditation of overseas laboratories. At present, the official has not yet issued an official announcement. However, the accreditation period of overseas laboratories on the official website is from January 1, 2021 to December 31, 2021.

Egypt Egypt NTRA

The National Telecom Regulatory Authority (NTRA) has published the updated National Frequency Allocations Table and Guidelines for Short Range Devices (SRDs) on June 2021. The Guidelines of SRD replace the previous one which was issued on December 2020. The difference with older version is the merge of table 4 (Wideband data transmission) and Table 13 (Wi-Fi) into one single table.

In addition to the above, NTRA has also published the new guidelines for Private Mobile Radio (PMR), and Aeronautical and Maritime radio systems.

 

Indonesia Indonesia SDPPI

SDPPI has extended the accreditation of overseas laboratories. At present, the official has not yet issued an official announcement. However, the accreditation period of overseas laboratories on the official website is from January 1, 2021 to December 31, 2021. SDPPI will continue to accept the test reports issued by overseas laboratories until the end of the accreditation period.

 

New Zealand New Zealand RSM

Radio Spectrum Management (RSM) has published the updated Table of Radio Spectrum Usage (PIB 21) on July 1, 2021. This table includes updates from ITU Radio Regulations, such as modifications on the 1700-2300 MHz and 3.5 GHz bands.

 

Samoa Samoa OOTR

The Samoa Authority, Office of the Regulator (OOTR) has released an order—Order of the Regulator No. 2021/T02 to require manufacturers and importers to label telecommunications equipment with the Samoa compliance mark (as below picture) upon obtaining a Type Approval Certificate from OOTR. This order has been effective since June 23, 2021.

Saudi Saudi Arabia CITC

The Saudi Arabia Regulator CITC has updated the technical specifications of communications and information technology devices to accommodate the latest technological developments. These specifications cover all communication and information technology devices that are manufactured or supplied to the Kingdom as the technical basis for their approval, and are also binding on all parties that manufacture, supply, or sell these devices in the Kingdom.

Regarding Electrical Safety standard, IEC 60065 & IEC 60950-1 are no longer accepted in Saudi Arabia. EN 62368-1 or IEC 62368-1 must be complied with. For approved devices, they will remain approved.

New requirements for specific IOT equipment and radio modules are released entered into force on July 20, 2021. The main points are as follows:

  • Samples of mobile phones, tablets, mobile computers and cellular IoT devices might be required for testing purposes upon request
  • In addition to LTE (4G) technology must supported as minimum requirement for cellular devices, CITC strongly encourages supporting the following technologies: 5G NR, eSIM, WiFi 6 & 6e (5.925 – 7.125 GHz). As for devices with 5G NR technology, frequency bands n41 and n78 must be supported, and n1, n3, n8, n28, n40, n71 and n77 frequency support requirement shall enter into force on July 1, 2022
  • All CPEs and Mobile Routers are required to support LTE (4G) technologies as a minimum requirement. WiFi 6 technology requirement shall enter into force on July 1, 2022. Moreover, CITC also strongly encourages the support of the following technologies: 5G NR and WiFi 6e (5.925-7.125 GHz)
  • All handsets must support the Cell Broadcast Service (CBS) service as per CITC’s technical requirements on mobile devices to enable CBS alert. And after October 1, 2021, all handsets must support the Advanced Mobile Location (AML) emergency communication service and testing should be carried out to ensure compliance with ETSI TR 103 393
  • Host device needs to be approved independently. In case the host device is approved, no need to apply for modular approval unless the applicant is planning to sell the module independently in the market or use the radio module in non-radio equipment
  • E-Label must be accessible by users of the devices including mobile phones, tablets and mobile computers, and devices that are provided with display or that can be connected to a display. After having the approval from CITC, the E-Label with issued type approval number (TA xxxx-y) must be embedded in the software as a proof of compliance. The E-Label must follow the following new design:

Saudi Saudi Arabia SASO

Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization (SASO) has published an executive decision of applying the latest edition of the standard SASO IEC 62368-1: 2020 (Audio/video, information and communication technology equipment - Part 1: Safety requirements) on June 30, 2021 as follows:

  • The enforce date of the standard SASO IEC 62368-1:2020 will be extend from July 1, 2021 to January 1, 2023
  • The test report as per SASO IEC 62368-1:2017 AS (IEC 62368-1:2014) will be accepted until December 30, 2022
  • SASO GSO 60950-1 and SASO IEC 60065 will no longer be applied and used starting from July 1, 2021

 

Saudi Saudi Arabia SASO

Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization (SASO) has published new technical regulations for Reducing Hazardous Materials in electrical and electronic equipment (RoHS) on July 9, 2021, which will be implemented on January 9, 2022. The products included in the scope which already exist in the market will be required to comply with this new requirement after 1 year from the publication date. Below is the list of products that fall under the scope.

  • Home appliances
  • Information and communication technology equipment
  • Lighting equipment
  • Electrical and electronic tools and equipment (except for large-scale fixed industrial tools)
  • Play, leisure and sports equipment
  • Monitoring and control devices

 

Singapore Singapore Enterprise Singapore

Singapore Enterprise has published circular CPSO-120721-00 on July 12, 2021 to inform on the changes in safety standards for the high-risk Controlled Goods, regulated under the Consumer Protection (Safety Requirements) Regulations (CPSR), which will be enforced from July 13, 2022. From this date onwards, the following Controlled Goods which are tested with editions of their applicable Safety Standards that are older than the listed in the table will not be accepted for new registrations or renewal of existing registrations.
