SGS of North America Inc. awarded NRTL scope for personal mobility devices UL 2271, UL 2272, UL 2849
On 23rd December 2021, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) of the United States Department of Labor has announced a Federal Register just before the Christmas holidays.
The Federal Register Vol. 86, No. 244 states that four product standards are now added to the NRTL (Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratory) program with immediate effect. They are:
- UL 2272 - Standard for Electrical Systems and Personal E-Mobility Devices
- UL 2743 - Standard for Portable Power Packs.
- UL 8139 - Electrical Systems of Electronic Cigarettes and Vaping Devices.
- UL 2849 - Standard for Electrical Systems for eBikes
In the same document, OSHA also announced that SGS of North America Inc. grants expansion of recognition of the above four standards.
SGS of North America Inc. has now the complete scope for personal mobility devices that include:
- UL 2271 - Standard for Batteries for Use in Light Electric Vehicles (LEV) Applications.
- UL 2272 - Standard for Electrical Systems and Personal E-Mobility Devices.
- UL 2849 - Standard for Electrical Systems for eBikes
The U.S. Department of Labor’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) is primarily responsible for managing workplace safety for U.S. workers.
