Button/Coin Batteries Must Comply with Mandatory Safety Requirement and Information Standards in Australia
On December 21, 2020, The Australian Competition & Consumer Commission (ACCC) released below four Mandatory Safety and Information Standards for button/coin batteries and consumer good that contains button/cell batteries, 18 months of transition period has been applied from the date. Suppliers must undertake any necessary change or testing to their product in order to comply with the new requirements before June 2022.

Brazil
ANATEL Released the New Act 5159
On April 8, 2022, ANATEL released the new Act 5159 which applies to power supplies and chargers meant to be used with mobile phones. It includes all the testing requirements for EMC and safety. The act will come into force in 180 days (October 26, 2022), replacing the actual Act 3481. Main changes are as follows:
- USB interfaces that integrate the electrical/electronic design of equipment (Example: TV, computer, Multimedia central, etc.) do not require ANATEL approval
- For vehicular chargers, the ESD tests must be applied in accordance with Item 8.3 of ISO 10605/2008 (before it was referring to IEC 61000-4-2), electrostatic discharges must be applied at the following levels:
♦ 2 kV, 4 kV and 6 kV for contact discharges
♦ 4 kV, 6 kV and 8 kV for air discharges - For vehicular chargers, the surge and transient immunity test must be performed in accordance with ISO 7637-2/2004
- Removal of safety testing for vehicle built-in chargers
- The use of security seal (Mint label) will be optional for built-in vehicular chargers provided along with the vehicle. If the manufacturer chooses not to use the Mint Label, the device must have the ANATEL marking in its label, such as ANATEL ID: HHHHH-YY-FFFFF
- For USB type built-in vehicular chargers, ANATEL will accept the ESD (ISO 10605/2008), surge and transients (ISO 7637-2/2004) test report done in a 1st part or 2nd part laboratory (manufacturer lab, for example), but the laboratory must be accredited by ILAC or evaluated by OCD
INMETRO Released Ordinance Nº148/2022 for Household Electrical Appliances
On 28 March, 2022, the Brazil National Institute of Metrology, Standardisation and Industrial Quality (INMETRO) released Ordinance Nº148/2022 for the Conformity Assessment of Household and Similar Electrical Appliances, which replaced Ordinance Nº371/2009. The main changes are as follows:

The new Ordinance has came into force since 2 May, 2022. Certificates issued based on the old Ordinance must have their validity adjusted during the next maintenance.

OFCA Opened Wi-Fi 6/6E
On April 29, 2022, the Office of the Communications Authority (OFCA) in Hong Kong released HKCA 1081 Issue 1 to open Wi-Fi 6/6E. The allowed frequency bands and maximum power are as follows:

OFCA Released Label Amendment
On April 29, 2022, the Office of the Communications Authority (OFCA) in Hong Kong released HKCA 3211 Issue 5 for updating the label requirement. OFTA has been updated to COMMUNICATIONS AUTHORITY in the new label, but this change is not mandatory for the equipment that already affixed with the old label.

TEC Clarified the Coverage of Radio Broadcast Receivers And Tracking Devices Used In Automotive Industry
On May 12, 2022, Telecommunication Engineering Centre (TEC) announced a clarification regarding coverage of Radio broadcast receivers and Tracking devices used in Automotive industry, the main points are as follows:
- The above-mentioned products which are integral part of Completely Build Units (CBUs), whether comes fitted with imported vehicles or imported/sourced locally for fitment in locally manufactured vehicles, shall not be covered under MTCTE
- Genuine service parts sourced locally or imported as replacement for fitment in CBUs are also not covered under MTCTE
- If sold as a separate and standalone unit, i.e., neither as an integral part of vehicle nor as a genuine service part for replacements in CBUs, will be covered under MTCTE
MeitY Announced New Market Surveillance Process
On April 28, 2022, MeitY announced new Market Surveillance process, BIS will take over the responsibility of surveillance process from STPI. Please refer to below key points of the new announcement.
- BIS is being responsible for the Market Surveillance
- BIS is planning to implement a Market Surveillance scheme on all products supervised under CRS
- The cost of Market Surveillance shall be borne and prepaid by the licensees
- BIS is developing a new system, where all licensees will be requested to submit details (distributer info etc..) within 10 days and make payment by Demand Draft within 15 days by the time it is ready
- Each Registration Number will be subjected to market surveillance twice a year
- The licensee shall pay the fee within 21 days after the surveillance process is completed

CRA Opened Wi-Fi 6E
On April 26, 2022, CRA released the Class License for the use of Radio Local Area Network (RLAN) devices which allows the usage of Wi-Fi 6E, devices must follow the technical requirements as below:

This kind of RLAN device(s), prior to importation and selling in the market, shall be type approved by CRA in accordance with the “Type Approval Policy for Radio Equipment and Telecommunications Terminal Equipment” and the “Type Approval Guidelines for Radio Equipment and Telecommunications Terminal Equipment” published on CRA official website.
Regarding to the usage of 6,425-7,125 MHz, CRA will issue its final decision after evaluating the WRC-23 results.
South Korea
MOTIE Removed Computer & Monitor From e-standby Program and Transfer to KMEPS Program
On February 15, 2022, MOTIE announced No. 2022-33 and No. 2022-34 announcement, which removed computer and monitor from the e-standby program. These two products have been included under KMEPS program based on announcement No. 2022-64 issued on April 27, 2022.
Monitor will be required to comply with KMEPS after May 1, 2023, while the effective date is still unclear for computer. Before the enforcement date, both products are still required to comply with e-standby program.
