ITA News Update - ICTA Opens Wi-Fi 6E Spectrum

ICTA Opens Wi-Fi 6E Spectrum

On August 4, 2022, Information & Communication Technologies Authority of Mauritius (ICTA) released the decision No. ICTA/DEC/01/22 on allocation of additional spectrum Wi-Fi 6E for the implementation of Wireless Access Systems including Radio Local Area Networks (WAS/RLAN). The main points are as follows:

  • The frequency band 5945-6425 MHz be made available for WAS/RLAN use as follows:
    - Indoor Low Power (ILP) devices restricted to indoor use only. Outdoor use of those ILP devices (including in road vehicles)
      is not permitted.
    - Very Low Power (VLP) devices for both indoor and outdoor use, except for fixed outdoor use. Use of VLP devices on
      radio-controlled models is prohibited.
  • The frequency band 5945-6425 MHz shall be used by WAS/RLAN devices on a non-exclusive, non-interference and non-protected basis.
  • WAS/RLAN devices shall comply with the technical conditions and standardization requirements specified in Annex 1 to the paper.
