Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) released guidelines for implementation of Parallel Testing on December 19, 2022, which permitting parallel testing of electronic products that covered under the Compulsory Registration Scheme (CRS). To start with, a pilot project of Mobile Phone has been allowed for six months. Please refer to the key points as follows.

ACMA Including 5G Technology in Latest Standard AS/CA S042.5:2022

The Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) based on Telecommunications Act 1997 to release the Telecommunications (Mobile Equipment Air Interface) Technical Standard AS/CA S042.5:2022 on December 8, 2022, which is replace the existing Telecommunications (Mobile Equipment Air Interface) Standard 2018. The main point is to include 5G technology under AS/CA S042.5:2022, the implementation date is on December 22, 2022.

 

RCM Labelling Can Be Displayed Through QR Code

It is now accepted to use QR code or similar machine-readable code as an alternative form of compliance label, if the relevant link is to information on a website that prominently displays the Regulatory Compliance Mark (RCM).

Belarus Canceled Mandatory Energy Conformity Assessment Scheme

The Council of Ministers of the Republic of Belarus released Resolution No. 916 on December 27, 2022, in which suspended the mandatory conformity assessment scheme established in the Resolution No. 849 dated October 21, 2016. Starting from January 1, 2023, Belarus will no longer requires separate energy requirements on related products.

MOPSV Allocates 3.3-3.6 GHz Band for 5G Mobile Services

The Ministerio de Obras Públicas, Servicios y Vivienda (MOPSV) released Resolución Ministerial No. 174 on September 9, 2022, which modified the National Frequency Plan by designating the 3.3-3.6 GHz frequency bands for 5G mobile services. Device operating in these bands is subjected to type approval process.

ANATEL Released Resolution 757 for The Use of Radiofrequency Bands

Agência Nacional de Telecomunicações (ANATEL) released Resolution 757 on November 11, 2022, establishing the conditions for the use of radiofrequency bands intended for telecommunications services in Brazil. It revokes Resolutions 169, 224, 395, 453, 454, 455, 544, 558, 562, 625, 657, 672, 733, and 736 in order to update the conditions of the use of bands 400 MHz, 700 MHz, 800 MHz, 900 MHz, 1,500 MHz, 1,700 MHz, 1,800 MHz, 1,900 MHz, 2,100 MHz, 2,500 MHz and bands 22 GHz, 26 GHz, 31GHz, and 38 GHz to provide the Multimedia Communication Service through systems using stations on high altitude platforms (HAPS).

SEC Published Safety Standard PE Nº1/38:2022 for Battery Chargers

The Superintendencia de Electricidad y Combustibles (SEC) released Resolution no. 14224 on September 30, 2022, approving the safety standard PE Nº1/38:2022 for Battery Chargers which will start implementation on March 31, 2024. Starting from then, all battery chargers that fall under scope should be approved by SEC.

BIS Released Implementation Guidelines of Parallel Testing for Mobile Phone

Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) released guidelines for implementation of Parallel Testing on December 19, 2022, which permitting parallel testing of electronic products that covered under the Compulsory Registration Scheme (CRS). To start with, a pilot project of Mobile Phone has been allowed for six months. The key points as follows:

  • BIS lab/BIS recognized labs can initiate testing of battery without R-number of cell. The lab will mention the test report no. and the name of testing lab in the final test report of the battery. The issue date of battery cell shall be earlier than the battery pack’s
  • Manufacturers can submit applications in parallel for getting the components registered. However, the license will be processed by BIS only after getting registration of all the components involved in the manufacturing of the final product
  • These guidelines are voluntary which manufacturers will still have option for submitting applications sequentially to BIS for registration as per the existing procedure
  • Manufacturers shall give an undertaking related to their responsibility of Parallel Testing

SDPPI KEPMEN KOMINFO No. 60 of 2022 for Ethernet Network Equipment Is Implemented

The ethernet network telecommunications equipment technical standard under the Decree of the Minister of Communication and Information Number 60 of 2022 was enforced on August 2022. The standard covers ethernet network equipment with two or more ethernet interfaces in accordance with the IEEE 802.3 which can be connected to two or more network devices.

CITC Changed Name to CST

The Communications and Information Technology Commission (CITC) released the Decree No. 235 on November 10, 2022, which has transfer the authority’s title to Communications, Space & Technology Commission (CST). All the devices which under GEN002 technical specification are required to reflect new CST logo on the label, the key points as follows:

  • All new produced mobile phones should mark with CST logo
  • The manufacturer should update the electronic label from the current mobile phone to CST logo, and provide the timetable of update plan to CST
  • Details to be announced after CST updates the GEN002

TDRA Shut Down 2G Network from the End of 2022

According to the announcement released by the Telecommunications Digital Regulatory Authority (TDRA) on June 28, 2022, 2G network (GSM) in the UAE will be shut down from the end of 2022, and resources will be allocated to 5G technology to support new generations of mobile networks.

MIC Released New EMC Technical Standard QCVN 18:2022/BTTTT

The Ministry of Information and Communication (MIC) release EMC technical standard QCVN 18:2022/BTTTT for radio communication equipment. The latest standard will be implementing on May 1, 2023, replacing the old standard QCVN 18:2014/BTTTT which will be expired on July 1, 2023.

 

MIC Released Latest Electrical Safety Standard QCVN 132: 2022/BTTTT

The Ministry of Information and Communication (MIC) released Circular 24/2022/TT-BTTTT, which included the latest standard QCVN 132: 2022/BTTTT of National technical regulation on electrical safety requirements for telecommunications and information terminal equipment. The standard will be enforced on January 01, 2024, and it is applicable for RF and Non-RF Desktops, Notebooks, Tablets, TVs, Set-top-box and DECT phone.
