Argentina
ENACOM Updated RAMATEL Label Requirements
Ente Nacional de Comunicaciones (ENACOM) updated RAMATEL labelling requirements on May 10, 2023, with new options of label placements listed as follows:
- Section V.1: Constructive reasons
- When label cannot be placed directly on product due to construction, size, or packaging reasons, it is allowed to place on user manual and/or packaging, or to put the label on “quick start guide”
- Section V.3: Devices installed inside vehicles
- When the label on product is not visible, it is required to put the label on the user manual of vehicle and/or documentation which will delivered with the vehicle, or to put the label on official website of manufacturer or vehicle importer
- Section V.4: Electronic labeling
- When use e-labeling, the instructions to help user to access e-labeling had to be included in the user manual or packaging, or to put such instructions in “quick start guide”, or any other documentation coming with the product, or official website of manufacturer and/or importer
India
MeitY Released a Notice Regarding the Requirement for Mobile Phones to Support FM Radio Functionality
The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology of India (MeitY) released a notification on April 28, 2023, stating that considering the robust and reliable feature of FM broadcast system, FM stations serve as vital communication links between local authorities and people during emergencies, natural disasters, and calamities. Therefore, it should be ensured that regardless of whether a mobile phone is equipped with an inbuilt FM radio receiver function, that function is not disabled or deactivated but is kept enabled/activated. Further, if the FM Radio receiver function is not available in mobile phones, it is advised to include it.
BEE Released Important Notice Regarding UHD Television and Deep Freezer, and Added 4 New Products to The Voluntary Energy Star Labeling Program
Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) of India has released a notification, the current voluntary energy consumption standards of Ultra-High Definition (UHD) Television and Deep Freezer will be valid until June 30, 2023 and to be moved to BEE Mandatory Certification scheme from July 1, 2023.

Additionally, BEE has decided to add the following product categories to voluntary BEE Star Labeling Program to promote the manufacturing of energy-efficient products and reduce the nation’s carbon footprint. The current validity period of the washing machine star-rating label has been extended from June 30, 2023, to December 31, 2023. Manufacturers who wish to continue using the star-rating label on their products can submit a model extension application before June 30, 2023, and will stop accepted the applications after the date.

TEC Released Acceptance of ILAC Reports for High Power Routers, LAN Switches, and DWDM products
The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) released a notification on April 18, 2023, in which announced the acceptance of test reports issued by ILAC-accredited labs for Safety and EMI EMC parameters for Routers, LAN Switches, and DWDM products. The applicable product’s feature is as follows:
- The product operates on single or three phases with current requirement ≥32A; or
- The product operates on 48VDC with current requirement ≥100A.
Moreover, applicable products should be aware of the following points:
- Information on Voltage, Current, and Power should be mentioned in the BOM
- The reports should be issued by labs located in non-border sharing nations
- OEM have to prepare and submit a self-declaration of conformity to technical parameters as per ER
- A provisional certificate will be issued by TEC valid for 2 years
- The certificate should be integrated with security requirements (ITSARs) as per the guidelines issued by TEC
Indonesia
SDPPI Released PERMEN KOMINFO No. 2 of 2023
SDPPI released PERMEN KOMINFO No. 2 of 2023 on April 12, 2023. This regulation classifies the use of radio frequency spectrum for devices such as Radio Local Area Network (RLAN), Short Range Device (SRD), Low Power Wide Area Network (LPWAN) etc.
Nepal
NTA New MDMS Came Into Force and requires IMEI number
The Nepal Telecommunications Authority (NTA) new Mobile Device Management System (MDMS) came into force on May 15, 2023. Mobile phone must be approved by the NTA, and the importer must register with this new MDMS to import and sell it in Nepal. Moreover, IMEI number is required to be provided by Importers for the record in this new MDMS when registering.
Papua New Guinea
NICTA released Validity of Type Approval Certificate is 3 years
Papua New Guinea Regulator – Nation Information & Communications Technology (NICTA) update the ICT Equipment Type Approval Rule 2022, the main changes are as follows:
- Type Approval Certificate (TAC) and Declaration of Compliance Certificate (DoCC) shall be valid for a period of three (3) years.
- Within 30 days prior to the expiration of the TAC and DoCC, NICTA will issue renewal notice. The certificate holder shall apply the renewal before the expiry date.
Saudi Arabia
CST Released Specialized Radio Network License in 450 MHz Band
The Communications, Space & Technology Commission (CST) of Saudi Arabia released a memorandum for issuing radio license for the 450 MHz frequency band. The publication is a continuation of the plan implementing the Spectrum Outlook for Commercial and Innovative Use 2021-2023 which aims to expand its range of services in Saudi Arabia for a smarter and safer future. Interested applicant must submit the application to CST by July 9, 2023.
Singapore
MDA Released Notice Regarding to Wi-Fi 6E
The Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA) released a notification on May 12, 2023, announcing that more radio frequency spectrum will be allocated to facilitate advanced Wi-Fi connectivity in Singapore, complementing Nationwide Broadband Network (NBN) and 5G mobile networks. IMDA will amend its regulations to allocate the radio frequency spectrum 5,925 MHz – 6,425 MHz for Wi-Fi use in Singapore. IMDA expects Wi-Fi 6E-enabled equipment and devices to be commercially available in Singapore by Q3 of 2023.
South Africa
ICASA released the frequency band from 5,925 to 6,425 MHz
The Independent Communications Authority of South Africa (ICASA) released an announcement on May 23, 2023 regarding the Wi-Fi 5,925 to 6,425 MHz frequency band and the 122 to 246 GHz frequency band for non-specific SRD. The main points are as follows:

Thailand
NBTC Allowed the Usage of Frequency 5.925 to 6.425 GHz
Thailand National Broadcasting, Television and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC) released a notification about Criteria of authorization and Technical Standard to use the Wi-Fi frequency 5.925 to 6.425 GHz on April 28, 2023, which took effect the following day. The main points are as follows:
- Required test reports for products supporting 5.925 to 6.425 GHz: RF reports, EMF/SAR reports, Electrical safety test report.
− RF test report should be based on FCC Part 15.407 (ETSI EN is not acceptable) with required test clauses, such as Output
Power,Power Spectral Density, Channel Bandwidth, Undesirable emissions limits: out of band emissions, In-band
emissions (emission mask), Contention based protocol.
− Below are the limit values for Maximum EIRP output power and Maximum power spectral density.

− For products that have applied for SDoC: The original model number can be used to reapply for SDoC.
