ENACOM Released Resolution 756/2023 of 6GHz Band

Ente Nacional de Comunicaciones (ENACOM) released resolution 756/2023 on May 24, 2023, which allocates officially the 6GHz band for WiFi services. Devices using this band are allowed to be approved from now on in Argentina.
The main points are as follows:

  • Allocated band is on the 5925-7125 MHz portion of spectrum.
  • Band is restricted for indoor use only, both private and for the provision of ICT services.
  • Power limit:
    - Access Points or Slave Devices: EIRP of 30 dBm and EIRP power spectral density of 5 dBm/MHz
    - Client devices: EIRP of 24 dBm and EIRP power spectral density of -1 dBm/MHz
  • Devices using this band is prohibited to be operated in vehicles (cars, trains, boats and planes). It will be allowed only on aircrafts when they are flying above 10,000 feet.

SUBTEL Expanded FM Band for Radio Station from 76 MHz to 108 MHz

The Subsecretaría de Telecomunicaciones (SUBTEL) released a news on May 16, 2023, to expand the FM band from 76 MHz to 108 MHz. This initiative is aimed to allow more radios to operate in the frequency band. Presently, 2,500 commercial and community radio stations operate throughout Chile. The expansion will allow for at least 1,000 more new radio stations to come into operation across Chile.

MIIT Released SRRC Interim Regulation for Wireless Charging

The Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) released《MIIT Interim Regulation for Wireless Charging (Power Transmission) Management》on May 30, 2023. This interim regulation will come into force on September 1, 2024.
The main points are as follows:

  • Wireless charging equipment is not mandatory to apply for SRRC type approval certificate, but it should comply with relevant regulations.
  • The frequency band of the device should operate within the following range and should comply with relevant requirements:

MIIT Released SRRC Draft Regulation for IPv6 Device

The Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) released《MIIT Draft Regulation for IPv6 device (Public consultation)》on May 26, 2023. This draft regulation will come into force on October 15, 2023.
The main points are as follows: 

  • Wireless device with IPv6 address allocation function is mandatory to apply for SRRC type approval, and shall comply with relevant regulations.
  • The testing agency undertaking the type approval test of wireless equipment shall have the corresponding testing capabilities of the IPv6 protocol, and shall implement it in accordance with the technical requirements and testing methods listed in this draft regulation.

 

MIIT Released SRRC Draft Regulation for WiFi 7 Device

The Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) released《Notice of the State Radio Office on the technical requirements and test methods for the new SRRC type approval of wireless LAN equipment adopting the IEEE 802.11be technical standard (Public consultation)》on June 1, 2023.

BIS Extended the Period of Parallel Testing and Include Two Product Categories under Pilot Scheme

Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) released guidelines for implementation of Parallel Testing on December 19, 2022, which has been allowed for six months. However, the adequate number of applications and inclusions were not received during the period, so BIS decided to extend the pilot project for further six months to December 31, 2023. Also add two more product categories (a) Wireless headphone and earphone (b) Laptop/ Notebook/ Tablet under the pilot scheme.

 

Television Sets To Be Controlled by BIS

The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) released a new announcement on April 26, 2023 that Television Sets” will be controlled by BIS under Compulsory Registration Scheme (CRS). The applicable standard is IS 18112: 2022 (Digital Television Receiver for Satellite Broadcast Transmission—Specification). In addition to the new standard, this new product category should also meet the existing standard IS 616: 2017 (Audio, video, and similar electronic apparatus-safety requirements). It will be implemented after two years from the date of publication.

 

TEC Extended the Date of Mandatory Certification for Phases III and IV Products

The Telecommunication Engineering Centre (TEC) of India released a new notification on June 23, 2023, extended the date of mandatory certification of phases III and IV products. The date varies depending on the product category listed in the appendix. The main changes are as follows:

  • Mandatory testing and certification for the 32 products in Appendix I have been extended until October 1, 2023. Including Equipment Operating at 2.4 and 5 GHz Band, IoT Gateway, LAN Switch, Router, Conferencing Equipment, IP Security Equipment, Tracking Device etc.
  • Mandatory testing and certification for the 12 products in Appendix II have been extended until January 1, 2024. Including Satellite Communication Equipment, Optical Fiber Cable, Base Station for Cellular Network, Compact Cellular Network etc.
  • For the 10 products in Appendix III, the deadline for accepting technical parameter test reports from ILAC accredited laboratories in non-border sharing countries has been extended until December 31, 2023. Including Satellite Communication Equipment, Optical Fiber Cables, Base Stations for Cellular Network, Compact Cellular Network etc.

 

TEC Announces the Mandatory Certification Date for Phase V Products

The Telecommunications Engineering Center (TEC) of India released a new notification on June 23, 2023. The enforcement date of Phase V products will start from July 1, 2024, and start accepting applications from July 1, 2023. The new phase including IP Terminal, Hypervisor, Base Station for Cellular Network for 5G, 5G Core, Hybrid Set-Top Box, E-band Fixed Radio Relay Systems and Converged Multi Service Application Access Equipment (C-MSAAE). For technical parameters, TEC will accept the test reports from non-border sharing countries ILAC accredited laboratories for certain product categories until June 30, 2024. However, the test report should not be older than 2 years at the time of application submission.

CMC Issued New Type Approval Regulation for Wired and Wireless Device

The Communications and Media Commission (CMC) released a new type approval regulation on April, 2023.

The main points are as follows:

  • Family models are allowed for the product with same technical specifications but differences in model name.
  • A type approval certificate is granted for any wireless or wired telecommunications equipment according to the types of devices and conditions listed in the regulation.
  • CMC reserves the right to request a sample device.
  • High powered devices may be subject to licensing.

MOTC Released Label Regulation for Telecommunication and ICT Equipment

The Laos Ministry of Technology and Communications (MOTC) released a agreement No. 1495《About the technical certification of telecommunications and ICT equipment》on May 29, 2023. The main points are as follows:

  • The label can be on the device body or on the box or the user manual.
  • The label must be applied to MOTC before it can be purchased, and MOTC will decide whether provide the label. MOTC will inform the reason if it is not provided.
  • The label example is as follows. The length and width are the same. There is a QR code in the middle, and the content of the QR code includes relevant information.

Vietnam MIC Released Circular 04/2023/TT-BTTTT

Ministry of Information and Communications of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (MIC) released Circular 04/2023/TT-BTTTT, in which updated the national technical regulation, and the list of products under mandatory Type Approval certification and Declaration of Conformity. The new Circular will come into force from July 15, 2023 and replace Circular 02/2022/TT-BTTTT. The main changes are as follows:

  • Update the national technical regulations
    - QCVN 130:2022/BTTTT: RF EMC standard for wireless audio devices
    - QCVN 131:2022/BTTTT: RF standard for EUTRA NB-IoT
    - QCVN 132:2022/BTTTT: Safety standard for tablet, desktop, laptop, DECT phone, set top box, televisions,
      it will be mandatory from January 1, 2024
    - QCVN 18:2022/BTTTT: RF EMC standard for Radar 76-77GHz, 5G, it has started from May 1, 2023, the previous regulation
      QCVN 18:2014/BTTTT will be invalid on July 1, 2023.
    - QCVN 65:2021/BTTTT: It will be mandatory from July 1, 2023 and previous regulation QCVN 65:2013/BTTTT is invalid.

  • Technical frequencies transfer from Type Approval certification to Declaration of Conformity
    - NFC 13.56MHz
    - 5.8 GHz

  • New requirements for land mobile terminal equipment and mobile phones
    - The devices must support LTE function from July 1, 2024.
    - The type approval certificates for devices which support 2G, 2.5G, 3G only will become invalid on June 30, 2024.
    - 5G NR devices must support both SA and NSA from July 1, 2024.
    - Type approval certificates for 5G devices which only have 5G SA or 5G NSA will become invalid on June 30, 2024.
