  • Announced its intention on July 18 to issue an NPRM (Notice of Proposed Rulemaking) to create a voluntary cybersecurity labeling program to provide consumers with clear information about the security of their IoT or smart devices. The proposed program, where qualifying products would bear a new US Cyber Trust Mark, an example of which is shown below, will be based on cybersecurity criteria developed by NIST, and the program could be up and running by late 2024 should the proposal be eventually adopted. • Published RSS-192 Issue 5 – Flexible Use Broadband Equipment Operating in the Band 3450-3900 MHz on July 5. (RSS-192 Issue 5)

The main changes are:

    1. Extended the upper frequency from 3650 to 3900 MHz to allow flexible use.
    2. Modified the transmitter output power for indoor base stations and subscriber equipment other than fixed subscriber equipment.
    3. Added out-of-frequency band unwanted emission requirements for equipment operating beyond 3900 MHz.
    4. Removed test report requirements as the requirement for identifying type 1 and type 2 base station equipment has been removed.

  • Published RSS-199 Issue 4 – Broadband Radio Service (BRS) Equipment Operating in the Band 2500-2690 MHz and SRSP-517 Issue 2 – Technical Requirements for BRS in the Band 2500-2690 MHz on July 20. (RSS-199 Issue 4)

The main changes are:

    1. (RSS-199) Added the 2500-2690 MHz band plan for paired and unpaired spectrum in table 1 and table 2 respectively.
    2. (RSS-199) Added maximum transmit power requirements for fixed station and base station for active antenna system (AAS) and non-AAS equipment in table 3.
    3. (RSS-199) Added TRP requirements for unwanted emissions in section 5.6.
    4. (SRSP-517) Incorporated technical rules to facilitate the deployment of AAS.
