BOCRA Notice for Type Approval Exemption

Botswana Communication Regulatory Authority (BOCRA) categorizing certain RF Equipment as being exempted from Type Approval in early August 2023 after reviewed of the Type Approval Guidelines in 2023. According to the notification, the equipment with function of Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Vehicle Embedded RTTE, Receive only and GMPCS Satellite Phones with ITU-mark are not require to have BORCA Type Approval.

ANATEL Released New Act No. 13011 for Mobile Phone Charger

Agência Nacional de Telecomunicações (ANATEL) released the new Act No. 13011 on September 1, 2023. This new act postpones the enforce date for Act No. 5159, giving additional time for the manufacturers to meet the requirements of Act No. 5159, the main changes are new mechanical testing for Wall Chargers’ Plugs and some others. Until April 14, 2024, charger manufacturers will be able to choose approving their charger by the Act No. 3481 (Old Act) or by the Act No. 5159 (New Act).

Directorate General of Posts and Information Resources & Equipment (SDPPI) opened public consultation for Technical Standards of Telecommunication Equipment and Mobile Telecommunication Device during September 19 to October 1 in 2023. The regulation covers Base Station and Subscriber Station supporting LTE/ 5G NR, as well as LTE Repeater; newly add technical requirements for 5G NR mmWave.

CPSO Clarified AC adaptors Deliver More Than 100W Power shall Comply with IEC 62368-1

Singapore Consumer Product Safety Office (CPSO) released new circular CPSO-070923-11 on September 07, 2023, which provided clarification on how AC adaptors that can deliver more than 100W of power to connected equipment shall ensure compliance with IEC 62368-1. All AC adaptors that can deliver more than 100W to connected equipment will need to comply with the requirements specified in the circular during their new registration and renewal.

Vietnam MIC Released Circular 10/2023/TT-BTTTT

The Ministry of Information and Communication (MIC) has released Circular 10/2023/TT-BTTTT on September 5, 2023, which suspends the application of Circular 04/2023/TT-BTTTT technical regulations. The main points are as follows:

  • Suspending for testing in extreme conditions until December 31, 2023
    - 2G/3G/LTE: QCVN 117:2020/BTTTT
    - Wi-Fi 2.4 GHz: QCVN 54:2020/BTTTT
    - Wi-Fi 5 GHz: QCVN 65:2021/BTTTT
    - Short Range Devices: QCVN 55:2011/BTTTT
  • Suspending for testing in extreme conditions until June 30, 2024
    - NFC, RFID 13.56 MHz, Wireless Charger: QCVN 55:2011/BTTTT
    - Vehicle radar 76-77 GHz: QCVN 124:2021/BTTTT
    - LPWAN: QCVN 122:2022/BTTTT
  • The validity of QCVN 127:2021/BTTTT and QCVN 129:2021/BTTTT for 5G NR terminal devices has been postponed until December 31, 2023; QCVN 128:2021/BTTTT and QCVN 18:2022/BTTTT are for 5G base stations has been postponed until June 30, 2024, because the testing conditions have not been met.

  • The type approval certificates issued based on the Circular 04/2023/TT-BTTTT only (test reports which include extreme condition testing) will be valid of 3 years.

  • The type approval certificates issued based on the new Circular 04/2023/TT-BTTTT & Circular 10/2023/TT-BTTTT with normal condition testing only will be valid until December 31, 2023.
