Evaluation of Gas Chromatography–Tandem Quadrupole Mass Spectrometry for the Determination of Organophosphorus Pesticides in Fish and Pork

A gas chromatography–tandem quadrupole mass spectrometry method for the analysis of 5 organophosphorus pesticide residues including chlorpyrifos, dichlorvos, fenthion, fenitrothion and trichlorfon in eel, tilapia and pork has been developed. Gel permeation chromatography on a Bio-Beads S-X3 column was employed to remove lipid material prior to GC/MS/MS analysis. Average recoveries of the pesticides spiked at 2 and 50 μg/kg into eel, tilapia and pork were typically in the range 75–110% with relative standard deviations generally less than 10%. Calculated limits of detection were between 1.0 and 5.0 μg/kg.
