Quantitative Determination of 11 Water-soluble Vitamins in Multivitamin Tablets by Liquid Chromatography-Tandem Mass Spectrometry

A LC-ESI-MS/MS method for the simultaneous determination of 11 water-soluble vitamins including vitamin B1 (thiamine), B2 (riboflavin), B3 (nicotinic acid and nicotinamide), B5 (pantothenic acid), B6 (pyridoxine, pyridoxal and pyridoxamine), B7 (biotin), B9 (folic acid), B12 (Cobalamins), in multivitamin tablets was developed and validated. The separation was accomplished on a Zorbax Eclipse XDB-C8 (150mm x 4.6mm) reversed phase column with methanol in an aqueous solution of ammonium acetate (5 mM) as mobile phase under gradient elution mode. Detection of target components was by ESI-MS/MS switching continuously form positive ion mode (PI) to negative ion mode (NI). Sensitivity, precision and accuracy were determined.
