In the EU Official Journal (OJEU) dated December 7, 2022, the European Parliament and the EU Council issued Directive (EU) 2022/2380 to amend RED 2014/53/EU by adding articles 3(4) and 3a, which shall become effective starting from December 28, 2024.
Article 3(4) mandates that the following categories of radio equipment, insofar as they are capable of being recharged by means of wired charging, shall be equipped with a USB Type-C charging receptacle:
handheld mobile phones, tablets, digital cameras, headphones, headsets, handheld videogame consoles, portable speakers, e-readers, keyboards, mice, portable navigation systems, and earbuds.
Article 3a mandates that all radio equipment referred to in Article 3(4) shall be offered to consumers with the provision to acquire it without a charger. Whether or not a charger is included shall be clearly displayed in a graphic form on the product packaging.
For laptops, the effective date for articles 3(4) and 3a is delayed to April 28, 2026.

Published RSS-248, issue 2 on December 20, 2022: Radio Local Area Network (RLAN) Devices Operating in the 5,925-7,125 MHz Band, which added certification requirements for these new classes of Wi-Fi 6E devices: standard-power AP, fixed client, and standard client operating in the 5,925-6,875 MHz band, and dual client.
A transition period of 6 months following its publication allows for compliance with either issue 1 or issue 2. Only applications for the certification of issue 2 will be accepted after this period.

UKCA
The Radio Equipment Regulations 2017 has been amended on December 31, 2022, to delay the enforcement of the UKCA conformity assessment on radio equipment entering the UK to 11pm on December 31, 2024.
