ITA News Update - Singapore IMDA Enabling Wi-Fi 6E

The Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA) released an updated version of the Short-Range Device regulations IMDA TS SRD (Issue 1 Revision 3, Sep 2023) which takes effect on September 1, 2023. One of the changes is to include the 6 GHz ( 5,925 - 6,425 MHz) as authorized frequency bands.

The Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA) released an updated version of the Short-Range Device regulations IMDA TS SRD (Issue 1 Revision 3, Sep 2023) which takes effect on September 1, 2023.

One of the changes is to include the 6 GHz ( 5,925 - 6,425 MHz) as authorized frequency bands, the detailed technical requirements are as follows:

- Adequate spectrum sharing mechanism shall be implemented / Employ contention based protocol

- Maximum mean EIRP density of 1 dBm/MHz or 10 dBm/MHz for narrowband usage

- Very Low Power (VLP) devices

※Use on unmanned aircraft systems or drones is prohibited

- Maximum mean EIRP density of 11 dBm/MHz

- Low Power Indoor (LPI) devices

- An LPI access point or bridge that is supplied power from a wired connection, has an integrated antenna and is not battery powered.

- An LPI client device that is connected to an LPI access point or another LPI client

※Outdoor use, including in road vehicles, is not permitted.
