  • Due to the lack of available certified standard power APs, manufacturers are very concerned about not being able to meet FCC’s recent requirement for Dual Client (6CD) device applications to demonstrate that the 6CD device operates at least 6dB below the power of a standard power AP instead of offering attestations stating the compliance. To address these concerns, the FCC stated on September 21 that they understand the difficulty in acquiring standard power APs at this time and will continue to accept attestations until further notice. The FCC, however, urges the industry to start testing as soon as sufficient standard power APs have entered the market.

  • Accepts Wi-Fi 6E applications immediately.  Until LP0002 Technical Regulations is revised and test labs and RCBs receive accreditations from TAF, manufacturers shall apply for a Wi-Fi 6E device approval by submitting its ETSI EN 303 687 (V1.1.1 2023-06) test report to RCB which in turn forwards to NCC for a type approval through a 2-phase approval procedure (should phase 1 be not needed or have already been completed, the application can move directly into phase 2).
    1. Phase 1: Apply with RCB for frequency bands outside of Wi-Fi 6E, with the certificate to be issued by RCB.
    2. Phase 2: With Wi-Fi 6E functionality enabled in the device, submit the EN 303 687 (V1.1.1 2023-06) test report, EMC report (applicable only for terminal equipment), appendix regulations comparison table (filled out by the test lab), and applicable technical documents and stamped application documents to RCB to be forwarded to NCC for a re-evaluation and the final certificate issuance with the same ID.
