Railway Rolling Stock and Power Plant Electronic Products System Integration Service

Railway Rolling Stock and Power Plant Electronic Products System Integration Service

Background

For electronic products used in the environment of rail vehicles or power plants, according to marketing needs, there are related regulations and specifications for  similar products, such as EN 50155, IEC 60571 or EN/IEC 61850-3, IEEE 1613, etc.

Usually, manufacturers will follow these listed regulatory testing items and entrust laboratories to carry out all or part of testing, and then hold relevant test data and reports to provide when bidding, to their customers and buyers to prove that the product meets the relevant regulatory requirements.

However, only having these relevant test data and reports is not enough to prove that the product can fully meet the requirements of the regulations. Various testing items have been formulated in the regulations are to evaluate the general safety of users, the electromagnetic compatibility of products, the ability to tolerate different operating environment conditions, and related reliability etc. In addition, the regulations also contain requirements related to product design, such as structure, size, PCB fire resistance, selection of important parts and components, specifications of internal connecting wires, installation and maintenance focus and convenience, other relevant warning signs, packaging requirements, MTBF, MTTF, product life cycle estimation, and etc.

Voluntary Regulatory Content System Integration Assessment Services

Manufacturer can not only conduct tests on product safety, EMC, different operating environments, and related reliability through different laboratories under the SGS Group according to regulatory requirements, but also hand over to SGS EMC laboratory performing the system integration assessment of the product design results according to regulatory requirements. Then judge the assessment from the perspective of a third party to confirm whether such regulatory requirements have been met.

With positive results of system integration assessment on products, SGS will issue an integration assessment report and product Functional Mark certificate. This voluntary system integration assessment service can provide manufacturers with many different benefits.

Benefits of System Integration Assessment

  • Objective and Impartiality:System Integration assessment of Third-party positions in line with relevant regulatory requirements.
  • Flexibility:Based on customer’s expectations, assessment items, like product functions, regulations contents, and different regulations etc. can be increased or decreased, to provide for customized services.
  • Market Trust:Endorsement of SGS third-party position.
  • Functional Mark Certificate:Amplify the advantages of the product and reassure the advertising effect.

Once this label is affixed on a product in the future, it will naturally be declared that the product complies with the functionality of relevant regulations as displayed on the label, which is convenient for product bidding and review by customers and buyers.

Different from the testing service of other testing houses, SGS EMC laboratory provides more efficient system integration assessment services, helping manufacturers to shorten the time of manpower consumption. At the same time, as an impartial third-party, reviews all test reports in technical documents, design, installation and maintenance specifications, and other required items in the regulations, to confirm that the products meet requirements of the regulations.
