SGS Newsletter – Regulatory February 2023

CE
On January 9, 2023, ETSI published EN 301 908-1 V15.2.1: common requirements for IMT cellular networks and made the following updates:
- Removed NOTE 3 in clause 5.3.2.1 which restricted the re-measurement method for BS and repeater to that of the original measurement for demonstrating radiated emissions compliance.
- Fixed note 11 in Table C-2 to narrow the range of operating frequencies for band n257 only.
FCC
Pursuant to the new rule FCC 22-84 published in the Federal Register on February 6, 2023, to prohibit authorization for “covered” telecommunications equipment and video surveillance equipment produced by Huawei, ZTE, Hytera, Hikvision, or Dahua, or by any subsidiaries or affiliates of such entities, on January 24, 2023, KDB 986446 D01 Covered Equipment v01 was published to provide staff-level equipment authorization guidance on how FCC 22-84 affects the equipment authorization process:
- The applicant must provide a written and signed certification to certify that the equipment for which authorization is sought is not “covered” equipment and that the applicant is not identified on the Covered List.
- The applicant must designate a US-based contact for purposes of acting as the applicant’s agent for service of process. A US-based applicant may designate itself as the agent for service of process.
SGS is pleased to offer assistance to all of our clients without a US-based entity to designate a US agent as required by the new rules.
